Founded
as a community hospital in 1959,
this county owned 25-bed
Critical Access hospital is jointly
managed by Mercy Memorial Health
Center and Preferred Management. On
December 14, 1999 Arbuckle Memorial
Hospital was recognized by HCIA
and the Health Network as a recipient
of the 1999 100 Top Hospitals.
The hospital's recognition for
clinical excellence and efficient
delivery of care was published
in Modern Healthcare magazine,
the leading health care industry
publication. The study was based
solely on objective, quantitative
performance data that is consistent
and complete across nine geographic
regions in the United States. The
study identifies top performing
hospitals based upon quality of
care, efficiency of operations,
and sustainability of overall performance.
The award reflects the dedication
to quality exhibited by our medical
staff, hospital employees, and
Board of Directors. Arbuckle is

CNEP provides weekly nutrition
education by one-to-one visits
in a participant’s
home. Topics cover budgeting, meal planning, shopping tips, food safety,
as well as general food and nutrition education. Most federal food assistance

of programs offered by Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.

Oklahoma Veterans Center

The
Oklahoma Veterans Center, Sulphur
Division, is located on
a scenic 17-acre site overlooking
the Chickasaw National Recreation
Area. The Center provides long
term nursing care to Oklahoma's
wartime veterans. The Center has
a bed capacity of 132 nursing care
beds and 10 domiciliary beds. A
new 60 bed, two story, replacement
wing is in the final stages of
completion and should be ready
for occupancy in May or June of
2000. The new wing features 27
semi-private rooms and eight private
rooms as well as separate nutritional,
lounge and recreation areas for
residents.
Residents of the Center receive
quality specialized care through
a comprehensive health care program
and planned activities geared to
meet the needs of all residents.

The Veterans Center is authorized
a total of 193 full time equivalent
employees.
The Veterans Center is a division
of the Oklahoma Department of Veterans
Affairs. The War Veterans Commission
is the controlling board of the
Oklahoma Department of Veterans
Affairs. The War Veterans Commission
is composed of nine members appointed
by the Governor of Oklahoma. The
members of the Commission are all
war veterans, who represent the
American Legion, Veterans of Foreign
Wars, Disabled American Veterans
and three of which must be Vietnam
Era veterans. The Commission administers
the veterans programs in Oklahoma
through an Executive Director.
The Executive Director exercises
operational oversight of the Oklahoma
Veterans Centers.

In recent months, Murray County
EMS has purchased two new state-of-the-art
ambulances, bringing the total
number in the fleet to three. All
three ambulances are equipped with
the latest in technology, to offer
the people of Murray County the
most advanced paramedic ambulance
care in southern Oklahoma.
Murray County EMS is an advance
life support service. Seven paramedics
are on staff, two basics and two
intermediates. They work 24-hour
shifts and there is always a back-up
crew on call. Future plans call
for an upgrade to a Critical Care
Service.
